Cheshire Junior Graded Meet 2019 - Report

On Sunday 17th November Winsford travelled to Macclesfield Swimming Pool with 13 young swimmers to chase county times for the 12 years and younger age groups.

We began the morning with 7 out of 7 PBs with one bronze and one new county time from the girls 100 IM. This then switched to the boys IM with 3 out of 3 PBs, gold and silver in the 10 year old age group and two county times, two of which where were Ciaran Turner’s and Isabelle Fletcher’s 1st qualifying times.

This set the tone for the next events producing more PBs, medals and county times with all of our swimmers giving their all in every race. The morning events produced 13 medals, 31 PBs and 4 new county times.

The pressure was on to keep up the achievements from the 1st session and we started with 2 out of 2 PBs, 1 speeding ticket and 1 gold medal, so we were on for a great 2nd session.

The afternoon session produced 13 PBs, 8 medals and 3 new county times.

This small young team of swimmers raced with great skill and passion and this resulted in a total of 22 medals, over 40 top 6 places and 7 new county times.

Well done to you all it has been a pleasure watching you race today.

Many thanks to Claire Turner for her fantastic team management skills and thank you to Mrs Brudenell for the life saving coffee this afternoon (due to myself running out of time in the lunchtime queue) and to all parents who helped with time keeping and judging.

“Remember every champion was once a contender who never gave up!”

See you all at the pool,
