A Message from the President of the North Midlands Swimming Association - North Mids 2020 Cancelled
The recent announcements regarding the timetable for a possible return to swimming and the guidance from Swim England raised hope that we might be able to run the 2020 North Midlands Competition this year. Unfortunately, Macclesfield Leisure Centre have confirmed that they will NOT be reopening the pool until at least September. This leaves very little time for the relevant safety measures to be put in place and assessed in situ. In light of this and with the risk of further delays to reopening and concerns relating to the logistics of running a competition in a safe and responsible manner the Management Committee of the North Midlands Swimming Association have reluctantly decided to cancel the 2020 competition.
We understand that this will come as a disappointment to all of the affiliated clubs, we have been monitoring the situation over the last few months and have not taken this decision lightly. We trust that we have your support and understanding with regard to this difficult decision.
We will continue to make plans and preparations for the 2021 season, please feel free to get in touch if you gain experience or specialist knowledge in planning events and are willing to help us on this journey. These are uncharted waters for all of us.
