Winsford Swimming Club

Well done and Congratulations to all swimmers who competed in the Cheshire County Championships 2020 either in the individuals or the relays. The results over the 3 weekends and 12 sessions were excellent with Winsford again battling very hard and very successfully on all fronts. Winsford achieved an amazing 96 MEDALS and 267 Finals/Top 8 Placings with a tremendous 27 Swimmers gaining at least one medal and 51 swimmers gaining at least one final spot, so in other words we had many, many swimmers contributing to our overall medal and points tally. Due to our fantastic results Winsford again cemented our position as the 3rd BEST CLUB in CHESHIRE, with only Stockport Metro and Warrington Warriors achieving a higher position, a fantastic achievement for our club, swimmers, coaches and teachers, well done to one and all.

The Cheshire Championships wasn't just about the results, it was also about coming together as a team and competing for WINSFORD SWIM TEAM. It was also about having FUN, lots and lots of FUN! The heats and finals were a blast with so many great swims right across the board, and of course the SKINS where we had Feya Johnston, Lois Inch, Lewis Turner and Ethan Wright all competing (results below) which was thrilling, but most of all I think the highlight of the Championships were the relays where we had 60 swimmers and 47 relay teams competing for our club, our team, our coaches and team managers and competing for each other as a TEAM. Winsford Swim Team gained a very impressive 13 medals in the relays, which again and again and again shows the strength in depth we have at our club. Thank you to all our team managers who not only executed the perfect plan for the relays but were also an outstanding help to all our swimmers and coaches over the three weekends. Massive thank you to Claire Brown who spent all Saturday filling in team sheets, greatly appreciated. There is no doubt at all we have the best support staff on poolside, a leading example for all clubs, well done and thank you. 

The results were overall very, very encouraging at the Cheshire Championships with all swimmers taking away a lot from the 12 sessions of competition which of course will lead us nicely into camp and some consistent uninterrupted training, helping us to go into the Regional Championships and Qualifying Window with tremendous excitement. It is extremely exciting for our swimmers going into the next phase of training, I am sure all will be very focused over the next couple of months and take training to a new level.
