Winsford Make a Splash - Liverpool Splash and Dash REPORT 2020

On Saturday 29th February Winsford Swim Team had 28 swimmers travel to Liverpool to race in the annual Splash and Dash Meet. The meet was based purely of sprints, one length of a 50m pool on each of the four strokes plus the SKINS event at the end of each of the sessions for those swimmers aged 14 Over. Winsford had a very young team with a sprinkling of more experienced swimmers, all were determined to race fast and push on for the medals. For all swimmers this was our first taste of racing LC this Spring and so it was really an opportunity to get in and see where we are at and to gain experience going into the Qualifying Window and the Regional Championships.
The day was long with many heats and lots and lots of sprinting, over the day we gained 6 Gold, 5 Silver, 3 Bronze, which was a terrific achievement because the meet was packed full of talented swimmers from clubs coming from all over the North West of England and further afield. As mentioned earlier we had a very young team with the largest representatives being the 9-12 years age groups which was great to see and for a number of our younger swimmers this was their very first LC open meet, and with this I thought all performed superbly well.

Thank you to Richard Line, Lisa Ball and Claire Brown for being poolside supporting our swimmers.
Well Done again to all swimmers who raced for Winsford Swim Team it was a great team performance, with lots of new talent making their debuts over the LC format, great experience for all and great to see more of our younger swimmers racing. I am sure more of our swimmers from Transition and Development will begin to race more and gain that ever so valuable experience, which will set them up for a great future in the sport of swimming.
We now move onto the Satellites Last Chance Regional Qualifier Meet, we have over 50 swimmers making the short journey to Macclesfield, it is sure to be a fast and very productive meet for us. Please as always can all swimmers maximise every single training session on offer, great preparation results in a great outcome. Michael Phelps swam everyday for four years between Athens and Beijing. Not a single day off, not Christmas, not his birthday, nothing. Consistency is the ultimate key to success.
See you at the pool.
Thanks
Dan.
