Winsford Swimming Club

Congratulations to everyone who raced on day 6 of the Cheshire County Championships, last Sunday we called it Super Sunday because of the fantastic results we achieved, but I think this Sunday was even better, so I think we should call today, Super Duper Sunday, because the results were flipping brilliant. The results over the day were fantastic with our swimmers achieving an additional 41 medals over the 8 events we competed in and needless to say we achieved many more finals. 

Today was our final day, what a marathon of competition we have had, 3 weekends, 11 sessions and hundreds upon hundreds of races. In 2021 unfortunately due to this pesky virus the Cheshire County Championships were cancelled, so our swimmers were in very determined mood to make up for lost time and swim our absolute best against the best swimmers in the county.

How did we get on I hear you say? Well let's say this, our swimmers were AMAZING! Heat after heat, final after final our swimmers gave their all. It was truly exciting to watch our swimmers fight for every metre in the hope of getting to that wall first. The racing was thrilling at times, with many very close finishes and the roar from our team every time one of our swimmers was racing filled my heart with joy. Seeing our team support, scream and shout for each other and get behind the lane and at the sides of the pool was the absolute highlight for me. Wonderful to see everyone supporting each other.

The 2022 County Championships was a huge success, with us gaining 145 medals and 267 finals, an outstanding total for our club, coaches and swimmers.

To date we don’t know the overall club points, but I have been reliably told that we will find out early next week. So we will look forward to these points totals when they are released. If I was a betting man, a top 3 placing looks assured but we will still look forward to seeing the totals when they come out.

The Cheshire Championships 2022 were a massive success for our club, massive success. As always many thanks to all the coaching team and team managers for supporting our swimmers every step of the way. Team managers are an absolute crucial part of the team, so thank you to everyone who helped out. Also thank you to everyone from Winsford who helped out with the organisation and running of the County Championships, and to all officials. Fantastic events like these can’t go ahead without all the volunteers. Also many thanks to all parents for your support from the balcony. The final and biggest thank you is for our swimmers, it was wonderful being with you all poolside and watching you race, the team spirit you showed throughout the championships was first class. I aim biased but I honestly believe our team spirit is second to none.

Well Done again to all swimmers who raced in the Cheshire County Championships 2022. We, as a club, did phenomenally well, each and every swimmer who competed for Winsford Swim Team should be very proud of their achievements. It was an absolute ball, so much fun and the racing was very exciting, keep up the great work.

There will be a photo on Wednesday evening at 7pm on the poolside for all Cheshire swimmers. Please can all swimmers bring their orange tops and any medals/trophies, we want everyone in the photo so can all swimmers make every effort to attend.
