A message from the President of the North Mids Swimming Association - 18.06.2025

Hello!
I hope this message finds you all well. Firstly I would like to introduce myself, my name is Wendy Brunt, and I am the new President of the North Midlands Swimming and Water Polo Association.
Representatives from various North Midlands Swimming Association Clubs have already been organising this year's championships, which are scheduled for October. A tremendous amount of effort goes into running these events, similar to all the other galas across the country that you attend throughout the year.  As you know these galas rely heavily on the support of ALL clubs, ensuring they provide volunteers and officials to assist.

As your club's representative, I am reaching out to encourage you to begin engaging volunteers for this year's gala. Although the event is not until October, early preparation is essential to ensure we have the necessary number of volunteers for a smooth operation across all sessions.

I would be grateful if you could identify officials who are available to assist with the gala by the end of July.  I understand that many may only be able to confirm their commitment once accepted entries are received; however, we would like to gauge volunteer numbers in advance. Additionally, we aim to prioritise officials whose swimmers will be attending the gala.

In addition to qualified officials, our gala will offer an opportunity to train members interested in taking their judges' course. This is a fantastic chance for your members to begin their judging journey, in the run up to October.  Any potential new judges will be able to complete the online training sessions in the run up to the October Galas and will then be in a position to have some of their workbooks signed off.
We will also need assistance over the two weekends (four sessions) in the following areas:
  • Administration Help: Experience with the Swimming Events system would be advantageous but not necessary.
  • Lane Marshalling: (DBS information will be required)
  • Door Entry Help: (DBS not required)
  • Announcers: (DBS not required)
  • Trophy Desk: (DBS not required)
  • Other General Help (DBS not required)
Registration for volunteers will be available via the following link https://forms.gle/Jpmgdghu7PGyG4cR8 . These details will be included in the entry pack for the gala which is available here.
In the meantime,  I hope you can find the time at your pools, training sessions, committee meetings, or other galas you attend to speak to parents/guardians to encourage them to help out at this year's event. We don't want the volunteer list to be left until the last minute, as this takes up valuable personal time for volunteer organisers.

Please encourage your members to sign up in order for them to  offer their support as soon as possible! Gala entries will officially open on Monday, 7th July at 6pm.
If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to email me at wendybrunt37@gmail.com. I am always happy to chat.
