A message from your 2022/2023 Captain's Team
Male Club Captain and Vice Captain
Tom Kud - Captain 2022/2023 Season
Hi, I’m Tom, your new Team Captain. So as an introduction, here’s a bit about me. I have been a regular in the pool since I was a few months old, starting with Puddleducks, Weaverham. A move to Queensland, Australia enhanced my love of the water and upon my return to the UK, I continued my swimming journey at Sir John Deane's, where I completed my swimming distance awards. I competed in triathlons before realising it was swimming I enjoyed the most, joining Winsford ASC aged 12yrs old. I have competed at county, regional and national level at both short (25m) and long (50m) distance and hope to continue my success. My favourite stroke is Butterfly. You’ll see me at the pool a lot, as I am also a lifeguard and frequent gym goer. If you see me, feel free to approach, happy to help with your swimming journey and pass on the knowledge that’s helped me.
Lewis Turner - Vice Captain 2022/2023 Season
Hello everybody, I am thrilled to be taking up the position of Vice Club Captain.
I am proud to say I have swam for Winsford Swim Team since I was eight years of age. I have represented the club at all levels, from junior galas up to competing for my first time at the British National Championships earlier this year.
Winsford consistently punches above its weight at all competitions. We have fantastic support, a brilliant coaching team, and above all – highly motivated swimmers who always strive to achieve excellence in everything they do. I aim to support our swimmers in every aspect of the sport.
Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed being a swimmer. Competitions such as Arena and Crusader are where I thrive the most. The incredible team spirit of Winsford is incomparable to any other team.
I thoroughly look forward to being a part of the incredible success of our team this season. I am sure all of our swimmers will continue to aim for the stars.
If anyone requires me to raise a concern or any other business you can contact me either in person at the pool or via my personal email: lewisturner369@gmail.com
I am extremely excited to undertake this role within the club and it is an honour for me to be able to represent all members of the team.
As Henry Ford once said: ‘Coming together is a beginning, Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.’
Good luck Winsford!
Lewis.
Female Club Captain and Vice Captain
The female club captain and vice captain remain unchanged from last year and they are:
Sophie Grindley - Female Club Captain
Hi everyone, I am beyond delighted to have been asked to carry on as your Female Club Captain for the 2022-2023 season. I aim to fulfil this role to the best of my ability.
Last season for me was very mixed with both good and bad highlights. Catching covid at the beginning of the season wasn’t the start I had planned as I missed out on Winter Nationals by 2 seconds (200m Fly) which meant that the road was long and hard due to me suffering with Long Covid - very tired and physically drained at times. However I pushed myself to get back to previous fitness levels and trained as hard as I could to make Summer Nationals. I gained a place in both the 200m Fly and 1500m Free which was very exciting for me after a hard season.
This season started as always with the Club Champs bringing the whole Club together with fantastic racing and as always fab Team Spirit. We have one weekend left of the North Mids and after having already achieved loads of medals and trophies over the first weekend we look forward to more fast determined racing. Arena League wow what can I say. Winsford made the decision to put forward 2 teams this year giving more swimmers the opportunity to compete for their team and gain valuable experience. Once again during round 1 at Blackpool Winsford remained the loudest with both swimmers and parents screaming and shouting their support for all swimmers before, during and after their race and I am sure this was the same at Connah’s Quay. We now look forward to the rest of the season with plenty of galas both home and away which includes our Christmas Gala at the end of the year. Another exciting event is the presentation evening in the New Year when we come together to celebrate every swimmer who competed at the Club Championships.
If you ever need to speak to me about anything whether a concern or just want a chat don’t hesitate to come to me at the pool or contact me on my personal email: sophiejgrindley@yahoo.com
Good Luck everyone for the rest of the season, let’s see what we can do!!!!
