Buxton Autumn Meet 2024 - Report
What a brilliant weekend!! Medals, PBs, fast swimming, TOP CLUB & Lots of fun!! We took a super strong squad of 40 swimmers and together we got over 100 points more than any other club at the meet, bringing us home a shiny new trophy! Special mention to Isla Anderson who won top overall girl and won the trophy, with Eris Coxon in 2nd and Holly Buckley in 3rd- absolute girl power with a full wipe out!! George Pearce was also 3rd overall top male, congratulations!
We achieved…
65 GOLDS 29 SILVERS AND 29 BRONZES
Equating to a massive 123 medals. Wow!!
Stand out performances were hard to narrow down as there was so many but we have gone with…
Most Improved Female-
Charlotte Peel for knocking masses of her pbs across all 4 strokes, we think for a while now Charlotte has only considered herself only as a strong distance freestyler… this weekend changed everything when she was knocking volumes like 7 seconds off some races. Well done Charlotte, keep working everything, super proud of you and you’ve left with new found confidence!!
Most Improved Male-
Edward Land for competing at his first ever lv2 gala and swimming multiple events. Edward also swum huge personal bests, with a knock back on the Saturday causing a DQ and then pulling himself back together mentally and smashing all his other races and having a really solid weekend overall! We were so proud of your comeback and perseverance!!
And a extra mention to Millie Hancock and Ben Atkinson at just 9 years old winning their first ever external swimming medals and not just any medals… GOLD!! Considering you’ve not long joined us in Development we were honestly so proud.
It was another contribution to this gala being so lovely for us.. we had Ben and Millie at our youngest right up to our national senior swimmers racing, a big variety in abilities and this made it lovely for us to to coach.
As always our thank yous- Jackie Schillinger, Anthony Brennan, Clare Atkinson, Zoe Coxon & Marie Wright for officiating, to Ali Brennan and Sara Hancock who doubled up as runners on their off session from being the team managers. For our team managers, Sara, Matt, Gemma R, Gemma B, Ali- all of you were brilliant & so supportive!
This weekend felt special for us not just for the swimming.. but seeing probably the best team morale as a club during an open meet that I’ve seen in a long while. The Premier Inn big club sleepover, the swimmers going to the arcades and out for food as a team together, the parents all having a social time, food, drinks and an all round good time, it really was a like adventure weekend away for us… almost like a mini swim camp, we just loved it! The team spirit was on fire, we’re not sure we’ve ever laughed so much at a swimming gala, it was non stop good chats, team bonding and time away together!
This weekend emphasises shows what a good community we have at the club right now and the team love really is at an all time high!
Thanks for the memories and an absolute blast!
