Winsford Swimming Club

Cheshires 2025 over and out! What a fantastic 3 weekends! Well done to every single swimmer, it’s been a truly incredible meet as a team we brought home… 10 Trophies, 123 Medals & 261 Top 8 finishers/ finalists across 52 different swimmers as well as the win the canon showing our strength across all age groups in the county. With the flags waving, the balcony roaring and the orange army out in force we shouted our loudest one last time in Macclesfield- truly remarkable! So thank you so much firstly to our coaching team- Izzy, Andy, John and Nickie who have worked extremely long days. To every single team manager who has kept the swimmers going, prep’d and fired up. To every parent who volunteered for the event, officiating, medal desk, balcony desk, marshalling, announcing… it’s pretty obvious that the event would struggle to go ahead without our club providing so many volunteers- so thank you. To Dani for all her background organisation of the event, Amanda Harrison for processing all the individuals and relay entries. To Kym Lawson, Jayne Fraser and Zoe Coxon for their help with relay team paper submissions. For all the parents, supporters and siblings (Ivy and Remy spring to mind) who rocked up in their orange t shirts, waved our flags and cheered our swimmers every step of the way- thank you. Special mention to Harry Jones who was medically unable to swim but was still there supporting and shouting for his team showing exactly why he was selected as our Junior Captain. 

Weekend 3 highlights for Izzy and myself include- Gus Fraser and Kate Schillinger winning the SKINS events, both super exciting to watch & incredible performances, we are so proud of you both, those Wednesday nights have clearly paid off. To Lois Inch for getting that 200 Breastroke trophy back in an incredible new season’s best and then continuing on to PB her 50 Brst and Free in the relay later that afternoon. Ivy Fraser who showed the biggest fighting guts on a 200 brst to get her first county medal! And all the relays we won… including a new Cheshire record for the 15/16s. It really reiterated how much squad depth we are carrying currently and absolutely fantastic that we dominated the afternoon events so much, especially that canon & it was lots of fun! Also super positive that we saw a visible improvement in starts, turns and underwater, brilliant to see us coming out of turns ahead of other teams- watch this space as it can only get better!

Time to recover and get back to it as we look forward to swim camp, then push for Cardiff in less than 4 weeks time, then onto Regionals- all to play for now! See you at the pool tomorrow evening!
