Record Breaking Cheshire Championships
Congratulations to all competitors who raced in the Cheshire County Championships 2017. Winsford Swim team had a record number of qualifiers, with 64 swimmers stepping up to the plate and racing with tremendous skill and determination. Not only did we gain a huge number of qualifiers but we also gained a record number of club points in the Senior/Junior category with a 99 point improvement from 2016. Our points totals put us in the top 3 overall clubs in both categories for the first time ever by a massive margin, a fantastic achievement for our team and our swimmers. The results were staggering with a huge 125 medals won and 360 top 8 finishes. What was pleasing was the sheer range of swimmers gaining medals, with 31 different medal winners and 51 swimmers gaining a top 8 finish. This again shows our strength right through the club and so many swimmers making a valuable contribution to our clubs success.
It was a very exciting 3 weekends of racing with so many highs and so many talking points. For me the highlight of the championships were the relays. Winsford Swim Team had A and B Teams in each and every age group and all performed superbly well. It was so pleasing to see the fight, determination and most of all team spirit. We achieved an incredible 13 medals in the relays out of 16 races, again I sound like a broken record but it shows our strength in depth at our club. Winsford Swim Team are continuing to break new ground, our swimmers are continuing to set the bar higher. It is great to watch you all race, it is great to see you all fight, it is great to witness the enjoyment you all have on race day, but most of all I love the camaraderie in our group. Camaraderie is what makes our swimmers and our club special, mutual trust and friendship.

Conclusion
2016 was a bumper year for our club and for us to better that in 2017 is an incredible achievement. It just shows what can be achieved through hard work and commitment to the training. Of course results don't just happen through chance, as always it takes a team of people working together. Many thanks goes to all the coaches (Alex Law, Nigel Woodbridge, Daniel Stone), team managers (Claire Brown, Julie Grindley, Sue Wright, Helen Wilson, Jeanette Williams, Lucie George) and all parents for their constant support to all our swimmers. Also thanks to all who have helped out in anyway as a judge, timekeeper or helper over the last three weekends. As always the biggest thank you goes to our team of swimmers, you have performed superbly well, always giving your absolute best. You should all be proud of your results, because I certainly am very proud of each and every one of you, and proud to be your coach. Well done to one and all.
