Satellites Distance Meet 2023 - REPORT

Over the weekend of the 10th & 11th June Winsford Swim Team travelled to Macclesfield to race in the Satellites Distance Meet. With a team of 20 swimmers making the short journey across the Cheshire plains all were in very determined mood to give our best, both in terms of sheer effort but also in our pacing and skill work throughout the long distance events.
Opportunities to race over the 800 & 1500 Free are somewhat rare, compared to the other events in the competition schedule, so this meet was a great chance to practice our pacing and tactics and to improve on our life time bests.
Winsford Swim Team over the two sessions, two days did fantastically well, racing with tremendous desire. Not only this but it was clear to see all were swimming with their heads, and not just with their hearts, and what I mean by this is we were racing smart. Racing over the distance is about having the will to win, but also the nouse to pace and use appropriate tactics.
Over the 800 & 1500 Free for both Boys and Girls, Winsford Swim Team achieved 3 GOLD, 5 SILVER and 3 BRONZE, giving us a total of 11 Medals plus many more top 8 placings. This is a fantastic result for all our swimmers, not just the medal winners but all swimmers who raced in Macclesfield. It was a very successful meet for the orange army.
