Wow what an incredible day, that exceeded all expectations of everything we have been working towards. The sun was shining, the weather was warm and a scorching 21.5 degree lake meant it was a non wetsuit race. Every single one of our swimmers came away with medals, we were gutsy, brave and fought hard. Well done to everyone of you! We have achieved 4 new National Qualifiers plus Hattie adding to her pool qualifying events.
Huge thank you to Andy Jones for officiating and coaching whilst I did my 3k. To Sara for providing the team picnic, to Lily Owen for coming to cheer on. To all our swimmers who stayed and cheered for each other all afternoon, super supportive of each other, and to Barry for awarding the medals representing our club so wonderfully. Our summer nationals is turning out to be very exciting taking our total qualifiers up to 20 different swimmers. We look forward to tomorrow at club champs and hope we have inspired others to take up Open Water next year. Final thank you to SENW for putting on such a fantastic competition and environment, it was a brilliantly organised and ran event.
If all open water swimmers could bring their medals tomorrow and we can try to get a group picture before club champs.
