SENW Young Volunteer Award (Online) 3.3.2025

The Swim England North West Young Volunteer Award is designed to provide young people, between the ages of 14 and 17 the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport.  The Award has been designed to suit young people from any Aquatic Discipline, (Swimming, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming and Diving).

SENW is seeking dedicated individuals to step into key volunteer roles as Boys Talent Pathway/Inter Region Lead and Coaching Lead. These roles provide a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of young athletes, shape the future of our sport, and collaborate with a passionate team of professionals and volunteers.

Swim England North West Water Polo Regional Level Referee Course 12.1.2025

SENW are pleased to announce a Regional Level Referee Course which is set to be ran on Sunday 12th January at The Pelican Centre, Tyldesley, This course is aimed at volunteers who wish to progress to refereeing at events organised by the Region in the hope to grow our network of local referees, click here for further details.

 

Swim England North West Coaching Opportunities

SENW are regularly looking for coaches to get involved in their Regional Activities, these could include:  Regional Development Programme (Swimming), Regional Distance Development Programme (Swimming) Regional Training Sessions (Swimming, Artistic Swimming, Water Polo & Diving), Skills Sessions, Para Swimming Training, In addition to assisting the Region to successfully deliver these activities, its aim is to provide individuals with gaining valuable experience, that can be used towards a coach's development.

Assistant Chief Recorder Course

Swim England will be hosting a new course, the Assistant Chief Recorder course. This course is open to those with a National Scorer qualification and will be hosted online on 15th and 21st January. Swimming Technical Officials - Judge 1 Theory

This online learning is the first step to achieving Judge 1 status for swimming technical officiating. It is accessible to anyone who wants to understand the World Aquatics rules relating to swimming and the process of being a Judge Swimming Official and Time Keeper. You must be at least 15 years of age at the start of the course, click here to book.

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2025 Prohibited List

Ahead of the New Year, take a look at the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List, Please be aware of changes to rules around inhaled formoterol which can be used to treat asthma.

Athletes should also recheck their medication from the 1 January on Global DRO to make sure they are not taking anything prohibited. Check medications on Global DRO & View the WADA 2025 List

Governance Guidance – Club Structures and Templates

As part of affiliation to Swim England all clubs have to have a constitution i.e. the document that outlines the functions and the rules under which the club operates.

The constitution, together with the club’s policies and procedures, helps to protect club members and officers, and makes the club run more smoothly.

If your Club/League/Local Association constitution is due to expire in 2024 please contact swimnorthwest@swimming.org to ensure you have the correct constitution model template to complete.

Safeguarding and welfare

Swim England have launched a new free online course designed to give young people a basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare and best practice, It's aimed at young volunteers and members who don’t have a designated role at a club that requires a DBS check, but want to improve their understanding of the topic. Click here for further details

Please note, if you are currently in a role that requires a DBS, the Foundation Safeguarding for Young People course doesn't replace the need for the Full Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course.
