Safeguarding and welfare
Swim England have launched a new free online course designed to give young people a basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare and best practice, It's aimed at young volunteers and members who don’t have a designated role at a club that requires a DBS check, but want to improve their understanding of the topic.

Please note, if you are currently in a role that requires a DBS, the Foundation Safeguarding for Young People course doesn't replace the need for the Full Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course.
Swim England publishes updated Judicial and Safeguarding Regulations
SE has published its updated regulations which aim to reduce the workload on club officials and volunteers by offering increased structure and support when dealing with complaints or safeguarding concerns, The revised Judicial and Safeguarding Regulations came into effect from 3 September 2024 and aim to ensure a fairer process for all involved, click here for full details

SENW Young Volunteer Award (Online)
The Swim England North West Young Volunteer Award is designed to provide young people, between the ages of 14 and 17 the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport. The Award has been designed to suit young people from any Aquatic Discipline, (Swimming, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming and Diving).

Governance Guidance – Club Structures and Templates
As part of affiliation to Swim England all clubs have to have a constitution i.e. the document that outlines the functions and the rules under which the club operates.
The constitution, together with the club’s policies and procedures, helps to protect club members and officers, and makes the club run more smoothly.
If your Club/League/Local Association constitution is due to expire in 2024 please contact swimnorthwest@swimming.org to ensure you have the correct constitution model template to complete.
Safe Supervision
Swim England want to make clubs aware that a number of changes have been made to the Safe Supervision of Programmed Swimming Lessons and Training Sessions in Swimming Pools document.
SE will be hosting two briefing sessions to talk through the Safe Supervision document and what it means for clubs on 3.10.24 & 4.10.24 click here to register

Aquatics GB Para-Swimming Winter Meet 23/24 November 2024
This year’s Aquatics GB Para-Swimming Winter Meet will be hosted by Swim England, Building on the inspiration of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this meet provides an excellent opportunity early in the season for para-swimmers from the home nations to compete for honours, click here for further details.

Should you have any news from your club at National events and above that you would like to share with the Region, please email clubdevelopment@swimnorthwest.org we will add the information to our website and share on our weekly news/social media platforms, Please note - Any information received must be ready to share, and must come directly from the club via a Club Officer to prevent duplication (unfortunately we cannot accept information directly from parents/athletes). Photographs can only be used if full consent/parental consent is provided and attached with the email (photograph/screenshot of consent given, including name and signature) – any photographs used must also meet the Swim England Photographic Policy requirements. In the event that no consent is available then we will be required to use a generic photograph from our library to supplement the report.
Coaching Opportunities within the North West Region
SENW are regularly looking for coaches to get involved in their Regional Activities, these could include: Regional Development Programme (Swimming), Regional Distance Development Programme (Swimming) Regional Training Sessions (Swimming, Artistic Swimming, Water Polo & Diving), Skills Sessions, Para Swimming Training, In addition to assisting the Region deliver activities, the opportunity also provides individuals with the ability to gain valuable experience that can be used towards coach development.
If you would like to be considered to assist on poolside at future Regional activities please feel free to complete the following form and we will be in touch, please note, this opportunity is open to all L1, L2 and L3 coaches within the North West Region.
