Swimathon for Angel - Wednesday 30th August from 6pm - 9pm.
Calling all Winsford swimmers, I need your help!
My name is Izzy Burton and I have been a member of Winsford ASC since I was 9. I think many of you will agree with me when I say swimming is not just our sport but it’s an escape from real life. As soon as you dive in, everything else disappears and life is peaceful. This is all I want for my sister.
My sister Angel has Cerebral Palsy and Autism. She is determined to walk and always has been.
Angel is a swimmer too; at Cheshire Penguins and Winsford Turtles. I recently watched Angel race at Liverpool 50m where many of you will have swum or will do so in the future! I was utterly blown away seeing the competitive drive in her and the enjoyment. She won bronze and silver in freestyle and a speeding ticket in 50 back!
Unfortunately Angel has been unable to swim or walk for months. We have been offered an operation that will change her life forever. This operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. It is no longer available on the NHS and will cost £30,000. We can’t raise this money alone.
On the 30th August I am going to organise a swimathon. Together we will swim the length of Winsford to Alder Hey which is 37.7miles or 2427 lengths, with each swimmer swimming as many lengths as they can. I have sponsorship forms and I will hand them out throughout August. If every swimmer could raise £10 or more that would be amazing!
Any length-counters would be much appreciated as it’s incredibly hard to keep track when you are swimming!
Every penny you raise helps Angel’s dream come true.
Thank you, Iz.
