Winsford Swimming Club

Congratulations to our 34 swimmers who took the journey across to Wales to sunny Llandudno for today's gala- Len Thomas Sprint Meet 2025. The competition was for our junior swimmers after the seniors were scrapped for oversubscription, but after the weekends after weekends of National Window events and Regionals it felt like it was the juniors time to get out there and absolutely shine & that we did. It was a wonderful meet, well ran, quick pool and great atmosphere. We cheered from start to finish for our team mates and were by far the loudest club. After a long day of racing they read out the final scores and we came out on top- we received a new shield trophy to bring back to Winsford, bonus! Esme Fraser got herself a new shiny trophy to add her to her collection by winning overall top girl of the competition based on points! Huge well done Esme at just 9 years old that is one fantastic achievement. 

Congratulations to the following swimmers who won medals for placing top 3 at the competition- 

Alfie Butterworth, Erin Barlow, Henry Daintree, Erin D’Mellow, Ivy Fraser, Gus Fraser, Masa Hall, Chloe Hancock, Lucy Hogben, Grace Gordon, Hannah Laverty, James Laverty, Ava Lunt, Maisie Jones, Daisy Skimming, Edward Land, Logan Buckley Robinson and Genevieve Wright.  

Thank you to Sara, Paul and Gemma for Tm’ing. John for coaching, Stuart and Maria for officiating and to Hannah, Gus & Chloe for taking on the role of team supporters and being such fantastic role models. Hannah who came all the way to Llandudno alongside John to help some of our youngest swimmers complete their first ever external gala was hugely appreciated. Shoutout to Sequoia, just 6 years old but magnificent cheering and support for the whole team! We can’t wait to have you racing with us in the years to come.

Thank you Sara for organising a wonderful team meal on Saturday evening followed by team bonding in the arcades and on the pier and finishing the weekend with more pier fun before heading home. 

Looks like we’ll be returning next year to return our trophy in the hunt of retaining it!
