Winsford Christmas Meet 2022 - Report
On Saturday 3rd December Winsford Swim Team hosted our 5th annual Christmas Meet. Welcoming over 180 swimmers from 9 swimming clubs, and a jam packed full meet, and being only 3 weeks away from the special day it was sure to be very exciting, with a bumper atmosphere and lots of super fast racing.
The results from right across the board from all clubs was fantastic with all swimmers, clubs and coaches having fun. The PBs and medals achieved were great to see, but even better was witnessing so many happy faces. Having fun and racing fast, with tremendous determination is all we could want for.
For Winsford Swim Team our performance was super high with all swimmers racing their hearts out. Often we can get stuck into the attitude of, time, time, time, we need to achieve this time, or we need to achieve this result. Well in fact all we need to do is race, race the others in the heat or final and give it the beans as they say, bish, bash, bosh job done and that is what everyone did today.
It was great to see over 80 of our swimmers racing and competing at our Christmas Meet, and supporting each other onto some terrific results. Again the support from behind the lane and along poolside was a joy to behold. The results were fantastic, as it says on our towels “We either win, or we learn”, at Winsford we like to do both!
Thank you to all who volunteered their time to help Winsford Swim Team have the greatest Christmas Meet we have ever had. I don’t know how we do it but our meet just gets better and better every year. So many thanks to Sue Wright and the gala committee for such brilliant organisation, and thanks to everyone who were donning the whites, without judges, time keepers and referees we could not run and licence our meets. Also many thanks to Claire Brown, Izzy Burton and Michael Secker for supporting all our swimmers poolside.
It was a wonderful meet and a big part of that is due to all the clubs, coaches, swimmers and parents who were in attendance. We hope everyone had a great time, and if there is any feedback, good, bad or ugly (preferably good) please do feel free to contact us, because at the end of the day we put on these meets for the good of the swimmers and we love to see fast swimming.
We now look forward to the Minor and Premier league Arena Finals next weekend. We are going into the two competitions super duper pumped, other clubs will have witnessed our passionate support in the first two rounds, but rest assured they have seen nothing yet.
Well Done again to all swimmers who were racing at the 5th Winsford Christmas Meet, we look forward to seeing everyone next year.
See you at the pool
