Winsford Summer Meet Report 2022

Saturday 25th June Winsford Swim Team hosted our ever so popular summer development meet. After a couple of years away due to Covid we again welcomed back clubs from all over Cheshire and further afield to the Winsford Lifestyle Centre to battle it out for medals, PBs and spot prizes.
This year entries came in thick and fast with our meet selling out within weeks, so the racing was sure to be fast and furious with a poolside packed full of talented swimmers coming from all over the NW of England.
Winsford Swim Team had over 70 swimmers racing in our home pool. The swimmers entering were from Development squads right up to Juggernaut, so the ages and experience levels were varied which was great to see. The programme consisted of all the 50s, 100s and the 200 Free and 200 IM, so it was a great chance for us all to fire up those fast twitch muscle fibres and execute some super fast swims.
Over the day the results for us were fantastic with so many great swims right across the broad spectrum of ages, genders and events. In session 1 we achieved a PB rate of 72.3% and in session 2 we were on a strike rate of 69.3%, which is fantastic, especially when considering many of our swimmers did multiple events in quick succession with no swim down facility to flush and recover the muscles. Thanks to Izzy Burton for working out our PB rates for both sessions.
As everyone knows we at Winsford love to count medals so thanks to Molly James for going through all the results. The totals for medals over the 2 sessions were as follows:
Gold: 84
Silver: 68
Bronze: 51
Total Medals: 203
46 different swimmers achieved at least one medal.
26 different swimmers achieved at least one gold medal.
Swimmer of the day goes to everyone, great team effort, however I would like to make a special mention to Tom Carss who had a great day of racing and for who this might be his very last gala with us before he goes off to University in September, what a great way to sign off. His attitude and commitment for many years has been outstanding, and is a shining example for all our youngsters in the club, well done.
Well Done again to Team Winsford, great day of racing from all our swimmers.
Thank you to our gala committee who organised such a wonderful event, and thank you to all the officials and army of volunteers who helped out over the day, the meet would not have been the success it was without you all.
As a club we really do try and leave no stone unturned to ensure we run the very best meets for all swimmers, coaches, parents and teams visiting us. A well run meet without a doubt results in happy fast racing, and ultimately the goal of any meet is for us to provide the best conditions for all swimmers to achieve their best results, and if we can send everyone home happy we as a club are very happy.
If any clubs do have any feedback please do feel free to share with us, we as a club are constantly striving to improve for future meets. Talking of future meets, we would love to welcome back all our visiting teams for our Christmas Meet which is pencilled in for Saturday 3rd December. I am positive our Christmas meet will be an absolute Christmas cracker of a meet, and we hope to see all our friends again in December.
Well done to all swimmers, coaches and teams who raced at Winsford Swim Teams Summer Meet 2022, fantastic racing from all swimmers. Thank you for coming and supporting our meet and we wish you all the very best for the remainder of the season and for season 2022-2023.
See you at the pool.
Dan.
