Arena League 25 Round 2 A team Report
It was show time once again, we headed to Stockport for a change in scenery as Macclesfield is closed. The gala started off a bit chaotic to say the least, crammed space, crazy warm up and confusion amongst what was going on, but our swimmers stayed calm and coped wonderfully. The gala kicked off with a challenge of being told all wedges on the back of the block were out of action & no backstroke ledges but once again we took it in our stride and stayed calm. Hen kicked off the evening with a storming 200 IM 4 seconds quicker than round 1. More stand out swims include Hattie in both her 100 Fly and 100 Free 2 more amazing PBs and drop in times from round 1. Ruby for a huge drop on her 100 brst including finishing 3rd in the 15 and under 100m Breaststroke at just 12 years old. Massive Congratulations to our swimmers who won their individuals- Gus, Hen, Isla A, Hattie and Carys. Carys achieving her Winter National time and beating a Commonwealth games Medalist. Relay superstars included our 13& Under Girls, our 15 and Under Girls and our Open Girls all placing first shows some absolute girl power we have in the club at the moment. Fantastic improvement and relay effort from our 15 & Under boys going 2 seconds quicker than our team in this age group last year and finishing 2nd.
Thank you to Stuart Fraser and Anthony Brennan for officiating. To Dani, Sue, and Gemma for TM’ing. To John and Andy for coaching. To Mike Barnett for an amazing job as the recorder.
We finished an incredible 2nd place, just missing out on 1st by a small 5 points. This places us 4th going into the A final with lucky lane 6 in Blackpool on Sunday 7th December.
Can’t emphasise enough how much we need your support with committing to training on this lead up to the final.
Finally congratulations to the B team- history makers as the first ever team to make the Division One A final meaning we have now guaranteed our place in Division 1 next season.
See you at the pool!
Molly
