North West Regional Championships 2018 - FINAL OVERALL REPORT
The weekend of the 26th & 27th May, saw our Age Group swimmers take centre stage for the final weekend of the North West Regional Championships 2018. This weekend in Manchester we had 11 of our swimmers racing against the best swimmers the NW of England had to offer from counties in Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria competing for honours. For 6 of our swimmers it was their very first time swimming at the Regional championships and so it was a fantastic experience for future Championships to come. The racing was superb throughout the weekend with an extremely high PB rate achieved from our swimmers. Not only this but we gained 5 Medals and 11 Finals/Top 8 placings. We also had some very close 4ths and numerous swimmers so very close to making a final spot, it was very pleasing to see all our swimmers improve their game massively over the Long Course discipline. This just shows that our swimmers can swim and perform on one of the highest stages of the swimming year. As mentioned earlier for 6 of our swimmers it was their first taste of Regional swimming but that did not phase them one bit.

After 3 weekends and 12 sessions of racing I am pleased to say that Winsford Swim Team have had their most successful championships ever in terms of Medals Won. This year we achieved an enormous 27 Medals and 52 Finals/Top 8 placings over all sessions, which is 8 more medals than in 2017. Overall we had 8 different swimmers achieving individual medals and 13 swimmers making a Final. Not only this but we did superbly well in the relays picking up 4 medals. This just shows how much we have improved as a club over the year on a Regional level throughout the ages. It also shows that numerous swimmers are reaching the highest standard in the NW Region.
I like watching racing at meets but I love watching Championship racing, championship racing is where we want to perform and I honestly believe we perform exceptionally well when it matters and that is very important. What also stuck out for me was the fun we had as a team and the support our swimmers got when they were racing and standing behind that block when their names were read out before the finals. That is what being part of a team is about, that is what being a part of Winsford Swim Team is about, supporting each other always, racing very hard and having lots and lots of FUN!.

Thank you so much to all the Team Managers over the 3 weekends and to all parents for your continued support for our swimmers and the coaching staff, as always it is greatly appreciated.
I would like to say a final Congratulations to all 37 of our Regional swimmers who represented Winsford over the last month or so at Manchester and Liverpool. The results overall were outstanding and this is due to the commitment our swimmers show on a daily basis. We now look forward with great excitement to the publishing of the swimmers who have qualified for the National Swimming Championships 2018 in the pool. Good Luck to all our swimmers on waiting for the invite. We all tried our very best and that is all we can ever do.
Well Done to one and all.
"Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination and dedication. Remember anything is possible for those who believe." Gail Devers
See you at the pool.
Thanks Dan.
