Winsford Swimming Club

Congratulations to all swimmers who travelled to Stockport to race in the Stockport Metro Spring LC Meet. This was our very first taste of LC racing of the season and was a great opportunity to practice our racing and pacing, and also to set benchmark swims leading into the meets to follow and the NW Regional Championships.

As mentioned previously, racing LC needs practicing and that is why this weekend was so important for all our swimmers leading into the NW Regional Championships. As the first LC meet of the season the results were very encouraging and sets us up nicely for the Youth Regionals in little over a weeks time.

At Stockport we achieved 21 GOLD, 16 SILVER and 10 BRONZE, with a total of 47 medals. We also had Lois Inch, Izzy Fletcher, Kate Schillinger, Freya Querelle, Edward Ma, Tom Rickels & Carys Roberts making the 100m finals. George Pearce also represented us in the boys 14 under SKINS coming in 8th place, which was fantastic as he was the youngest to qualify being only 12 years old. Kate Schillinger also made the SKINS, racing in the girls 14 years and under age category, and magnificently Kate won the competition, coming first and earning herself £20. Amy Kenworthy also added to her British Championship Qualifying Times, gaining the 1500 Free on Friday night, so she will be very busy in Sheffield.

Also thanks to SM for their hospitality and providing chicken curry (Saturday) and chilli con carne (Sunday), terrific meals.

Well Done again to all swimmers who raced in Stockport, lots of valuable experience gained which will be very important for the Long Course meets to follow.

We now only have 12 days until the NW Regional Youth Championships begin, please can all swimmers make every effort to attend as many sessions as possible. We will be going very hard in the next week, so we are in the best shape possible for the racing ahead. 

100% Focus will be needed, in every single swim session.
