Satellite Spring Meet 2020 - REPORT

Over the weekend of the 7th & 8th March, Winsford Swim Team travelled to Macclesfield to race in the Satellite L3 Spring Meet. Winsford made our way to Macclesfield with 53 swimmers from squads; Juggernaut, Platinum, Development and Transition, it was a very mixed group of swimmers in terms of experience levels, but what stood out for me was how young our team was. It was great to see a number of new faces to the racing circuit and helping us to push on towards project 100. Not only did we have lots of new faces racing but we also had numerous swimmers who have picked up a lot of experience over the years. With only two weekends of racing before the NW Regional Qualifying Window closes the Satellite Open Meet was also an opportunity for a number of our swimmers to gain new consideration times. It was clear from the outset these swimmers along with all our swimmers were in a determined mood to swim life time bests. Many NEW NW Regional QTs were achieved and a number of near misses, misses by tenths or even hundredths of a second, all the same some outstanding efforts on the racing. It is also important to note champions are champions not because of what they achieve but how they react to times of disappointment, for those swimmers who just missed out I know they will come back stronger, a lot stronger and will always have the full backing of the coaching staff.
The weekend was a tremendous success with all swimmers performing to an exceptionally high standard, over the weekend we achieved:
20 GOLD
28 SILVER
10 BRONZE
58 Medals
A great number of medals against some strong opposition with clubs coming from all over the land, it was a very busy, long and hot meet, of course heat and Macclesfield come hand in hand! Finishing at around 8pm on a Saturday evening and then up again for poolside at 8am the next day is tough, add to that a (loch ness) monster long day on the Sunday, all our swimmers raced outstanding, with first class attitude all weekend. Over the weekend we achieved a great number of medals, 58 in total, but we also achieved 17 NEW North West Regional Consideration Times from  9 different swimmers, OUTSTANDING WINSFORD:

Races can be won, races can be lost, attitude, character and the never, ever give up attitude is what you will take away with you. Training is fun, racing is fun, being a member of Winsford Swim Team is even more fun. SEE YOU AT THE POOL!
Thanks
Dan.
