Manchester International Swimming Meet - 12th-14th February 2021
It is with great excitement that this Friday and over the weekend, the Manchester International Meet will be taking place. Due to the coronavirus the meet is only for the elite swimmers but it is a huge step forwards for some racing to be going ahead.
Today we have found out that two of our officials have been selected to officiate at the meet in Manchester. Congratulations to Lucie George and Debra Thomson who will be again donning their whites in the heat and humidity of poolside. It's times like these where we are all literally jealous of the opportunity to be poolside!
Lucie and Debra will have to stay in the event bubble for the whole duration of the event. Staying in the hotel with all athletes and officials from Thursday through to Sunday. For both Lucie and Debra it will be a great chance to see how racing can occur in the current climate, but also have the chance to see our elite swimmers in action.
Of course there will be no spectators but the event will be live streamed. I would strongly encourage all our swimmers to tune in, and watch the very best swimmers in the country go head to head. I am sure it will be an enjoyable watch, and we can watch it from the comfort of our own living rooms. Not only this but we can also look out for our very own Winsford officials.

Well done again to Lucie and Debra, it’s great to see Winsford developed officials officiating at the highest of levels.
Looking to the future if there is anyone who is interested in officiating please get in touch, a member of our team will be happy to guide you through the process. It makes a world of difference for our club to be self sufficient and have enough officials to run our club champs, time trials, development and Christmas meet and also the crusader league galas, without relying to heavily from other clubs. Not only this but officiating is so much fun, and you get fed at dinner time! It also gives you the chance to put something back into the sport and help our club to put on all our meets, which are crucial for our swimmers. So yes please get in touch, we need YOU!
We will get back racing one day, hopefully this spring/summer and we can’t wait, literally can’t wait.
