North West Regionals 2024, Weekend 3 & Final Report
Over the weekend of May the 4th (be with you, Star Wars Day) and 5th Winsford Swim Team travelled to the Manchester Aquatics Centre to compete over the final Weekend of the North West Regional Championships. It was again the time for our Age Group swimmers to compete, plus Adam Wright, Ciaran Turner and Amy Kenworthy joined them for the 800m (male) and 1500m Freestyle (female).
All swimmers were super charged to finish the NW Regionals off with a bang and shoot for PB’s, Finals and Medals, and it is very pleasing to say we had lots of all three. Over the final 4 sessions (sessions 9-12), Winsford Swim Team achieved 5 GOLD, 1 SILVER and 3 BRONZE giving us a total of 9 medals and 18 FINALS for the weekend. Add this weekends results to the previous two and it gives us a grand total of 16 GOLD, 4 SILVER and 6 BRONZE medals and 60 FINALS, with 9 swimmers achieving a medal/s and 19 swimmers achieving a final or finals. This is a phenomenal achievement from all swimmers who represented Winsford Swim Team over the 3 weekends of competition and just shows what can be achieved against the City and Metro Clubs of the region.
The PBs, Medals and Finals were impressive, but for me the sheer will to win and the desire to compete for every metre of pool was fantastic to see from all swimmers. Everyone literally gave their hearts and soul into the racing and that is all we could ask for.
As always it is important to note the team spirit showed for every swimmer, with all the team getting involved in our races which was fantastic. There is literally nothing better than seeing a sea of orange on pool deck cheering on our team mates.

We now look forward to the final weekend of the National Qualifying Window where we will again return to the Manchester Aquatics Centre, for the Manchester/SM Open Meet. Our swimmers will be looking to swim their very best in the hope for achieving times fast enough for the National Rankings.
