Swim England North West – Technical Swimming Officials Co-ordinator Required

An opportunity has arisen to be a key figure of future regional swimming events in the North West, we are looking for a volunteer Technical Swimming Officials Co-ordinator, click here or further information.

 

Swimming Technical Officials - Judge 1 Theory

This online learning is the first step to achieving Judge 1 status for swimming technical officiating. It is accessible to anyone who wants to understand the World Aquatics rules relating to swimming and the process of being a Judge Swimming Official and Time Keeper. You must be at least 15 years of age at the start of the course, click here to book.

Swim Wales Masters Short Course Championships 2024

Swim Wales are delighted to announce the return of our Short Course Masters Championships to be held in North Wales at the Llandudno Swimming Centre Saturday 30th November to Sunday 1th December 2024, click here for further details, Entries close at midnight on Friday 8th November 2024.

 

Governance Guidance – Club Structures and Templates

As part of affiliation to Swim England all clubs have to have a constitution i.e. the document that outlines the functions and the rules under which the club operates.

The constitution, together with the club’s policies and procedures, helps to protect club members and officers, and makes the club run more smoothly.

If your Club/League/Local Association constitution is due to expire in 2024 please contact swimnorthwest@swimming.org to ensure you have the correct constitution model template to complete.

 

Swim England publishes updated Judicial and Safeguarding Regulations

SE has published its updated regulations which aim to reduce the workload on club officials and volunteers by offering increased structure and support when dealing with complaints or safeguarding concerns, The revised Judicial and Safeguarding Regulations came into effect from 3 September 2024 and aim to ensure a fairer process for all involved, click here for full details

Changelog

  • Updated ‘Responsibility for safeguarding within Swim England’ section to amend the role description of the Case Management Group, and to add details of the new Disciplinary Officer role.
  • Updated ‘Contact Details’ section to include Disciplinary Officer.
  • Amendment to the “Abuse is…” text in the ‘Definitions of Abuse’ section.
  • Updated the ‘Reporting a concern about a child at risk of harm’ section to include reference to the Disciplinary Officer role.
  • Updated the ‘Adult Safeguarding’ section to include reference to the Disciplinary Officer role.
  • Updated the ‘Recording, information sharing, and confidentiality’ section to include reference to the role of Judicial Committees.
  • Updated Codes of Conduct to include a reference to reporting abuse, bullying, or unacceptable behaviour, even if the individual is just a witness.

Aquatics GB Para-Swimming Winter Meet 23/24 November 2024

This year’s Aquatics GB Para-Swimming Winter Meet will be hosted by Swim England, Building on the inspiration of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this meet provides an excellent opportunity early in the season for para-swimmers from the home nations to compete for honours, Entries: Open 12 noon, Monday 14th October, Close 12 noon, Wednesday 6th November 2024  click here for further details.

Safeguarding and welfare

Swim England have launched a new free online course designed to give young people a basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare and best practice, It's aimed at young volunteers and members who don’t have a designated role at a club that requires a DBS check, but want to improve their understanding of the topic. Click here for further details

Please note, if you are currently in a role that requires a DBS, the Foundation Safeguarding for Young People course doesn't replace the need for the Full Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course.
