Arena 26 Round 1 Reports - A & B Teams

Arena League A Team- Round 1 Report

Congratulations to all competing swimmers who represented the club so wonderfully at Macclesfield last night. We had a tough draw and knew we’d have to perform if we wanted to achieve our goal of making this year’s North West Premier A Final. 6 out of 8 teams were last year’s A Finalists from the region, including the winners and runners up.

First shoutout goes to our swimmers who won their race. Our Men’s 15 and under freestyle relay- Gus Fraser, Gabriel Holt, Abel Buso and Edward Land. Isla Clifford and Alfie White brought home back to back wins in the 9-11 50m Breastroke, whilst Gus Fraser took the win in the 100m Butterfly. Our 9-11 Girls won the Medley relay- Lucy Hogben, Isla Clifford, Esme Fraser and Grace Gordon.

Next to the canon where we accumulated a time 2 seconds quicker than last year.

Club Captain Edward Smalley broke the minute marker on 100m Backstroke for the first time ever, after rushing back from a University open day at Bath first thing yesterday morning!

Noah and Oscar Blemmings & Amber Barnard all competed for the Orange Army at their first team gala. Whilst Esme Fraser, Lucy Hogben, Arlo Kornecki, Edward Land, Oscar Hughes and Douglas Cockburn all made their debut into the A team. We hope you guys had the best time!

Overall, we had a phenomenal evening finishing in an amazing 3rd place only placing behind the top two teams in the region from last year.

Thank you to Sue, Gary and Zoe for TM’ing. To Reece, Stuart and Olga for officiating. Well done Olga for completing your training. To Mike Barnett for doing a brilliant job of announcing the entire evening. To John for all the admin, spreadsheet, mathematical work and splits to make this all possible.

Special shoutout to Lois who came in at later notice and had to get special leave from work to be able to swim & to Max Kimber at home who took overtime to help us out!

Brilliant cheering by all the Orange Army on the balcony, fantastic job and keep up the great work!

The next round is in Blackpool. Keep your diaries free it’s going to be a good one!

Onto Round 2!

Arena B Team Report

What a super afternoon over in Kendal for the B team. Utterly superb atmosphere from poolside and the stands – well done everyone and thank you! Absolute pleasure to be there with you all, very proud of everyone.

Following analysis of results we had some insane racing, huge PBs over 50-100m, and if not right on PB! Excellent individuals and relays. We had 4x 1st placings: 15/U boys (Logan, Aston, Jack, George, Alfie) in both of their relays; Siena in open 100 back, Erin in 11/U 50 Breast. As well as a healthy handful of 2nds across the age groups and teams. Overall, this was a harder round for us than last year but we did managed to hold onto 4th – well done everyone!

1st – SOUTHPORT 184
2nd – ALTRINCHAM 164
3rd – WORKINGTON 145
4th – WINSFORD B TEAM 138
5th – CARLISLE AQUATICS 128

Thank you as always to our volunteers; TMs: Sara, Gemma, Rebecca and Ivan. Thank you coach Andy and Charlotte P for splits and coach support. Thank you Jacqui being check recorder. And thank you Dave and James L for officiating.

Let's get going for round 2 in Darwen!

Thanks,

Iz
