SENW Weekly Information & Course/Events update 28.05.2026

Good afternoon,

Please share this update with all your club members.

Here’s the latest news, events, and opportunities from across the region:

From 1–7 June 2026 we’re celebrating Volunteers’ Week and the incredible people who keep aquatic sport afloat. Clubs and competitions run because of them. Watch this space as we highlight our North West volunteers and their outstanding dedication.

Please send us photos of your club volunteers in action to swimnorthwest@swimming.org (with permissions), along with your club name, the volunteer’s name, and their role, so we can feature them during Volunteers’ Week.

North West Regional Development Programme 2025-2026 – Final Session SENW Water Polo U16 Girls Inter Regional Academy

The region hosted a range of events, including the final session of the North West Regional Development Programme. We were delighted to welcome our athletes to Wigan Life Centre for a day dedicated to learning, development, and skill-building. This year’s programme was delivered by an experienced coaching team, including Andrew Ferns, Alison Hurst, Dan Austin, Joel Weston, and James Collins, under the leadership of Lead Coach Ian Ingman. Our Physiotherapy Lead, Leanne Pridding, provided expert guidance on land training and supported swimmers throughout the day, assisted by Caitlin Gibson.

 Water Polo Clubs

Do you have members in your club who are passionate about helping shape the future of water polo in the North West?

SENW hosts a Water Polo Management Group, which meets four times a year. This group plays a vital role in developing opportunities for our athletes, ensuring the North West has a strong and unified voice within Swim England, and contributing to the national direction of water polo. The group oversees the management of teams for Inter-Regional Competitions and continues to explore new ways to strengthen athlete development across the region.

We are now inviting each club to nominate a club representative to attend future meetings. Our aim is to ensure a broad range of clubs, perspectives, and playing abilities are represented, enabling us to work collaboratively and make decisions that are truly in the best interests of water polo athletes in the North West.

We would be delighted to have your club involved, please send contact details of your representative to clubdevelopment@swimnorthwest.org who can join the group on the next meeting, which will be held on the 14th July at 7:30pm.
